Paulo Costa is thrilled about his new deal with the UFC.
According to his manager Tamara Alves, he will be making a lot of money each time he fights in the octagon.
Alves told Ag. Fight that Paulo has been transformed from one of the worst fighters to one of the best in UFC. He also mentioned that Paulo is likely the highest-paid Brazilian athlete in the organization, and he doesn’t know anyone who earns more than a million dollars for doing non-title fights.
Costa complained about his UFC contract many times during the past year. He wanted to quit the organization when he completed his last fight in the contract but eventually decided to stay. Costa revealed that he was offered $500,000 just to show up and an extra $150,000 if he won the fight with Robert Whittaker, but turned down this offer.
The Brazilian fighter now has five upcoming fights in UFC. He had one fight left from his previous contract and the company gave him a new four-fight deal. The company might be planning for him to face Sean Strickland and Khamzat Chimaev soon. His most recent performance was when he won Luke Rockhold by decision.
“Paulo does well for the UFC which is why his Pay-Per-View with Israel Adesanya was one of the most successful in the middleweight division. The UFC has the numbers that prove it and they know just how valuable Paulo can be.”
