UFC Jacksonville Weigh-in Results: Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria Make Weight, One Fight Cancelled
The weigh-ins for UFC Jacksonville went smoothly for the main event fighters, Josh Emmett and Ilia Topuria, but there were some issues among the preliminary fighters.
Both featherweight contenders successfully made weight on Friday. Emmett weighed in at 145.5 pounds, while Topuria came in at 146 pounds, utilizing the one-pound allowance for non-title fights.
Emmett, ranked No. 7 in the MMA Hook Global Rankings for the featherweight division, aims to retain his position after his interim title fight loss to Yair Rodriguez in February. He will face Ilia Topuria, ranked No. 8, who boasts an undefeated record of 13 wins, including his first five UFC appearances.
In the co-main event, flyweights Amanda Ribas and Maycee Barber also made weight successfully, coming in at 125 and 126 pounds, respectively.
However, the preliminary portion of the event encountered some complications. Loik Radzhabov, Jamall Emmers, and Kleydson Rodrigues failed to make weight on their initial attempts.
Radzhabov exceeded the lightweight limit for his fight with Mateusz Rebecki, weighing in at 157.25 pounds (1.25 pounds over). As a result, the bout will proceed at a catchweight, with Radzhabov forfeiting 20 percent of his purse as a penalty.
Rodrigues missed weight by three pounds, weighing in at 129 pounds for his flyweight fight against Tatsuro Taira. This is the second time Rodrigues has failed to make weight, as he previously came in one pound over for his fight with Shannon Ross at UFC 284. The UFC announced the cancellation of the Taira vs. Rodrigues bout due to the weight miss.
Emmers initially weighed 147 pounds, exceeding the featherweight limit by one pound. However, he later successfully made weight at 146 pounds for his fight against Jack Jenkins, and the bout will proceed as scheduled.
