Steven Peterson went into the UFC San Antonio fight on Saturday without thinking it would be his last. But after his match with Lucas Alexander was finished, Peterson knew it was time to retire. He lost to Alexander and he officially announced his retirement from the sport afterwards. You can watch Peterson’s announcement of him quitting boxing along with Michael Bisping in the video below.
Peterson said his retirement speech at the end, although he hadn’t planned it. His nickname is “Ocho” and he chose to retire after his eighth match in the UFC. He was 32-years old and had won 3 out of the 8 matches making his pro record 19 wins out of 11 total fights. Peterson will now coach and promote others as he moves onto a new chapter in life.
Peterson had three incredible wins at UFC. He won match-ups against Chase Hooper and Matt Bessette by decisions, and he knocked out Martin Bravo with a spinning backfist in September 2019.
