It looks like the leg injury that Muhammad Mokaev got at the latest UFC Pay-Per-View show was not as bad as it seemed.
During Mokaev’s third-round fight against Jafel Filho at UFC 286, he was stuck in a very painful leg lock, but refused to give up. Eventually, he managed to get free and put Jafel in a rear naked choke before the fight ended. After he won, it was obvious that his left leg was hurt from being stuck in the lock.
Mokaev recently said he is going to take a break from training for six to eight weeks because he has injured his knee. He calls it a “partial tear” of his MCL, which means that it won’t be as bad as having a full tear. Despite the setback, Mokaev believes that one day he will become champion and thanked everyone who sent him support messages.
The 21-year-old said that he won’t need any surgery for his MCL injury but he plans to do another medical examination once the swelling goes away. Since joining with the UFC, Mokaev has not lost a fight and has finished three of them by submission.
