Dustin Poirier is getting ready to do something amazing.
Poirier is considered the best fighter ever without an undisputed title. He has had a lot of legendry battles, but his greatest one was against Justin Gaethje. All these fights since 2015 made him the rightful owner of the violenceweight champion title.
After Justin Gaethje lost a fight to Dustin Poirier in 2018, his records since then have been mostly positive. He has only lost battles with Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira (both of them being former champions). He had two fights that were both victorious; against Michael Chandler and Rafael Fiziev this past weekend at UFC 286. Justin Gaethje wants to redeem himself against Dustin Poirier and put on some great performances while doing so.
Poirier told FanSided MMA, that when he heard about a potential rematch with Gaethje, he got very anxious. He also said these kinds of fights make him nervous but at the same time motivates him. He added that if they call him and Gaethje’s name is mentioned then maybe it will happen eventually. We’ll just have to wait and see!
Poirier just won a fight in November and he’s waiting for the UFC to decide what comes next. He wants to fight more than once a year, which is something he hasn’t done often in the 14 fights of his career.
The 34-year-old Poirier would love to come back home for the summer and have a fight in Louisiana. He even tweeted about it hoping that it would become true so he could have a match in his own state. He’s very excited as this will only be his second time fighting here since joining UFC. He said, “Let’s go to the city and battle it out!”
I’ve only fought in the UFC once in New Orleans, which was back in 2015 when I faced Yancy Medeiros. I’m a businessman, so we’ll have to see what kind of money-making opportunities exist for us.
Who’s Winning Between Jon Jones, Alexa Grasso & Leon Edwards?
Matt Brown thinks Leon Edwards should take it as a good thing to fight Colby Covington because he has more chances of winning. Michael Bisping said that Justin Gaethje was just being a supportive friend when he accused Bisping of biased commentary. Alexa Grasso is hoping that she can have a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko in September, especially in Mexico. Lastly, who was the best out of Jon Jones, Alexa Grasso and Leon Edwards last month?
Arnold Allen is not convinced that Max Holloway has lost his skill. Max Wilson shares how martial arts training benefited his racing career.
