Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor

Jake Paul, the professional boxer, is already looking towards his next ventures.

Paul, also known as “The Problem Child,” is set for his seventh professional boxing match in Dallas, Texas, tomorrow night. With a record of 6 wins and 1 loss, his past victories have included former MMA champions such as Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, and Ben Askren. His next aim is to beat Nate Diaz, a seasoned UFC veteran of 15 years, in a middleweight bout.

Ever since Paul began gaining fame in the boxing scene after his knockout victory over former NBA player Nate Robinson, he has been challenging every major star in the MMA world. Notably, Paul has shown a consistent interest in Conor McGregor, Diaz’s old adversary, whom he believes could be tempted into a face-off after a victorious match at the American Airlines Center.

“When I defeat Nate Diaz, achieving what Conor couldn’t, it’s only logical for him to want that high-revenue fight,” Paul said in an interview with MMA Junkie. He also questioned McGregor’s commitment to the sport and how seriously he is being taken in the fight world.

Paul stressed his independence saying, “I’m my own boss. I make my own decisions. I could fight anyone, anytime, anywhere.” On the other hand, McGregor would have to seek permission from Dana White, the UFC President, if he wanted to fight.

In the history of their face-offs, McGregor and Diaz stand at a tie with McGregor winning the last match in their August 2016 rematch. The Irishman has been less active since then, fighting only five times in MMA along with a short boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Recently, McGregor expressed indifference towards the outcome of the Paul vs. Diaz match, but showed interest in a potential trilogy bout with Diaz.

As for Diaz, the 38-year-old former UFC lightweight title challenger has shown interest in returning to the UFC at some point. Most people assumed that Diaz would transition to boxing after his UFC departure, a move that Paul had anticipated.

Paul said, “I think Nate was always in the picture since he was exiting the UFC.” He also added that his focus is currently on the upcoming fight, but there are plenty of big names and fights in the pipeline.
