MMA’s Tyron Woodley remains eager to compete.
Since his last UFC appearance in March 2021, marked by a string of four defeats and capped with a loss to Vicente Luque via a first-round d’arce choke, the ex-UFC welterweight champ shifted to boxing. In 2021, he twice faced Jake Paul in the ring, unfortunately losing both bouts – initially by a split decision and then through a striking sixth-round knockout. Despite a two-year hiatus from fighting, Woodley, at 41, is keen on returning to combat sports, targeting revered former UFC welterweight stars. Additionally, he’s ventured into promotional work with the launch of The Realest International Promotion (TRIP).
Woodley shared with TMZ, “I’m aiming to square off against icons who, in my view, didn’t receive their due respect and earnings during their prime. I made substantial, nearly eight-figure offers to Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, but both declined. Diaz didn’t outright refuse but reacted ambiguously to my offer. I respect these legends and, with the influx of money in the sport, wish to ensure they’re well-compensated in these partnerships – like my business dealings with Jake Paul for our two matches. This is more than just a sport; it’s a business collaboration.”
Canadian MMA legend St-Pierre, 42, remains firm on his retirement from MMA, despite his active engagement in grappling events. He last competed in November 2017, securing the UFC middleweight championship against Michael Bisping at UFC 217. His return to the ring was thwarted by an injury, preventing his participation in the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5.
Nick Diaz, more active than both Woodley and St-Pierre, faced defeat in a September 2021 rematch with Robbie Lawler at UFC 266. He’s believed to still be under UFC contract and aspires to fight again. However, a bout with Woodley would require Diaz to navigate his existing contractual commitments.
Woodley clarified that TRIP won’t limit itself to MMA, stating, “TRIP will showcase a diverse array of arts, not just MMA. Given my background, MMA will be a focus, but we’re also diving into music, festivals, cryptocurrency, esports, boxing, and various crossover events.”

Woodley’s boxing matches were… interesting, to say the least, but I’m more curious about this TRIP thing, sounds like a cool concept if he can pull it off
GSP sticking to grappling, smart move, he’s a legend in MMA, no need to risk it in a comeback, especially against someone like Woodley who’s still got some fire in him
tyron’s really branching out isn’t he? boxing, promoting, feels like he’s trying to find his place post-UFC, hope it works out for him, always respected his skills in the octagon
man, Woodly really tryin to get back in the game huh? too bad GSP and Diaz ain’t biting, woulda been epic to see them throw down again
its a shame Diaz and St Pierre said no, but hey, that’s the fight game for ya, always full of surprises, and not always the good kind
