At UFC San Antonio on Saturday, Maycee Barber won her fourth straight fight against Andrea Lee. Although it was a close match, after fifteen minutes of fighting, Barber ended up winning by split decision. Some of the crowd didn’t agree with how two of the judges scored the fight though.

Judge Chris Lee gave a score of 29-28 in favor of Lee, but Frank Collazo – the referee from Fury FC 79’s fight on Friday – voted against it and thought Barber won with a score of 29-28, whereas Dan Miragliotta scored all three rounds to Barber.

Lee took Barber down within two minutes at the start of the first round and kept up his dominant position before Barber managed to stand back up again. The exchanges after this were even until the horn sounded.

At the start of the second round, Lee was doing better in the fight with her punches until Barber managed to take her down. They were both connecting some head-kicks at once, but Lee’s one was stronger and she hit Barber really hard. Barber then got another takedown while they were fighting but wasn’t able to make much of it. Lee eventually stood up and started hitting Barber’s legs with a lot of kicks, and Barber tried defending herself by throwing up some defensive kicks until the end of the round.

Barber advanced during the third round before Lee got another takedown and grabbed Barber’s back. However, Barber got up shortly afterwards. The two traded moves but eventually Barber executed a takedown before Lee stood up again and sent Barber back to the floor.

With less than a minute left in the round, Lee secured a strong grip and completed her fifth attempt of takedown, closing out the round on top.

The cards were everywhere, and Barber won her fourth contest in a row.

Lee has now lost the last two competitions she was in, and is only 2 wins out of 7 tries lately.
