Max Holloway didn’t win, but he’s still one of the most skilled fighters in featherweight division as he showed recently during UFC Kansas City main event.

After Max Holloway lost to Alexander Volkovanski for the third time in a row, people questioned if would he start to lose authority to a younger fighter such as Arnold Allen, who had previously won 10 UFC fights. But Holloway made it clear that he’s not going anywhere anytime soon by showing off his old skills and winning over his opponent after five tough rounds.

Just before the end of their fight, Holloway managed to hit Allen hard enough for a knockdown that earned him the victory. All three judges gave him scores of 49-46, 49-47, and 48-47 which meant he won and is now back in contention for the title at 145 pounds. After the fight, Holloway praised his opponent saying they can be pretty tough and joked that his modeling career could be at risk because of Allen.

“It lasted only 10 to 5 seconds, just like a fight Ricardo Lamas had. I wanted to recreate that moment since he could see it; it was definitely enjoyable! The other guy in the fight was strong and determined to keep going, which was awesome!”

Right away, Holloway started socking Allen with multiple punches all at once. Allen tried to block by throwing a big left hook and Holloway just kept attacking.

Holloway was boxing quickly, while Allen was trying to land powerful punches. Allen punched Holloway hard with his left hand a few times and it surprised Holloway. As the second round ended, Holloway started focusing on body shots like a straight punch and loud kick.

At first, Allen was still acting aggressively but Holloway hit crisper punches while showing quicker movements and a range of attacks. Also, Holloway’s body shots kept impacting on Allen’s stomach very heavily.

Holloway was in control of the fight, as he managed to punch and move away before Allen could hit him back hard. Even though Allen still had his powerful left hand, it did not cause Holloway too much trouble like earlier during the fight.

With only five minutes remaining, Allen’s coaches told him to go for it and try to score a win before the fight was over. So he gave everything he had left in his power against Holloway. Although Holloway still got hit by some punches, he also fired back with his own strikes that kept hurting Allen’s face.

Allen took lots of damage in the fight, with his rib cage lit up like a Christmas tree. Even so, he kept pushing for a knockout throughout the last round to try and make a comeback. Holloway was happy to take the punches too and by the end, they were both exhausted from the 25-minute battle. They hugged after they finished fighting and it was all over.

Max Holloway recently beat a fighter named Jeremy Allen in a UFC match. Holloway has taken out another competitor from the featherweight division and is getting ready for his upcoming title fight against Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez. Even though he lost, Allen still said kind things about Holloway after the fight saying that he is an inspirational figure as one of the greatest fighters in the world right now.
