Marlon Vera recently had a disappointing result at UFC San Antonio. Chito lost the match to Cory Sandhagen in two separate scorecards. Afterward, he took to Twitter and admitted that he could not make any excuses for his loss. He tweeted: “I didn’t win, but I won’t ever give up – this is life and it sucks.”
Vera sent out a message in Spanish to thank people from his home country of Ecuador. After losing, Vera no longer is counted as the highest contenders in bantamweight division. Nevertheless, he told the media that even if he won, there was still not much chance for him to get a title shot because former two-division champion Henry Cejudo will be challenging Aljamain Sterling for the UFC title next and everything at the top is still uncertain.
Vera said this week that it’s hard to predict rankings because you can be No. 10 and still fight for a title. It doesn’t really matter in UFC since they decide who gets the titles. She is okay with how things are going because she is putting in the work, winning, and fans are cheering for her which is why she is able to fight as the main event three times in a row.
“I’m just focusing on making money, and if I work hard enough the result will come to me without me having to struggle after it. I don’t need to worry because I know that what I’m doing is working well”.
