CJ Vergara had an amazing fight. During his second bout at UFC San Antonio on Saturday, he pulled off a major comeback ending with him winning! Vergara was initially running from his opponent until the second round when he managed to beat him with punches and strikes. You can watch this awesome finish here.
The referee called the fight in favor of Vergara at 4:04 minutes into the second round, but it doesn’t tell the full story. There was a lot of excitement in this flyweight battle!
Lacerda was trying to get his first win in the UFC and he started by aggressively punching Vergara. Vergara had no other choice but to run away around the octagon, while Lacerda chased him. The whole sequence went on for a while until referee Jason Herzog almost wanted to end the fight.
Although Lacerda was pushing hard, Vergara managed to take him down and make it past the first five minutes of the fight. In Round 2, with his energy visibly fading, Vergara pushed the action forward on the ground and fought off a leg lock from Lacerda. Then with strong punches from above position, he forced the referee (Herzog) to end the fight.
Vegara won that match, meaning their record in the UFC is 2-2. Lacerda, though, has not been able to win any of their four matches in the promotion yet.
