After a hiatus of more than 18 months, Giga Chikadze is geared up to step back into the octagon.
Multiple insiders acquainted with the promotion’s plans have confirmed to MMA Hook that Chikadze is slated to square off against Alex Caceres in UFC Singapore. The event is scheduled for Aug. 26, taking place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The booking was initially reported by MMA Junkie.
Chikadze, 34, is keen to redeem himself following the end of his nine-bout winning streak at the hands of Calvin Kattar during the main event at UFC Vegas 46 in January 2022. Prior to this setback, “Ninja” had amassed victories in his initial seven appearances in the octagon, which included three consecutive stoppage wins over the likes of Edson Barboza, Cub Swanson, and Jamey Simmons.
On the other hand, Caceres has silently been building an impressive track record in what many consider to be UFC’s most challenging division. He enters this face-off with a recent winning streak of two and has emerged victorious in seven out of his last eight bouts. After experiencing a decision loss to Sodiq Yusuff, “Bruce Leroy” commenced 2023 on a high note with a Fight of the Night winning performance against Daniel Pineda at UFC Vegas 74 in June.
This report also included contributions from Guilherme Cruz.
