Fabricio Werdum, a former UFC heavyweight champion, is done with his contract at the Professional Fighters League (PFL). He said in an interview that he’s “free” now and PFL also confirmed it.
Fabricio Werdum only had one fight with the PFL Company and that fight ended with a TKO (Technical Knock Out). Later on though, this result was changed to a No Contest. Fabrcicio complained that he tapped out to a choke ever before the finish of the match.
Fabricio later said “My contract with PFL has come to an end. Even though it wasn’t because of the loss, I have been doing this for 25 years now so I took some time off and my contract ended”.
Werdum, a former martial arts fighter in PRIDE, Strikeforce and UFC commended PFL as the best organization he has ever dealt with when it comes to how they treat their fighters. In the past, Werdum thought of retiring but is now determined to fight again if given an offer that he can’t refuse.
Werdum said that if something happens in the future, he will need some time to train and then he would do it. That “it” could be any of Ngannou, ‘Cigano’ (Junior dos Santos), or even Velasquez coming back now – though Werdum had no idea if such a thing would happen.
Fabricio Werdum is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter who has been in the sport for close to 20 years. During his career, he toppled many legends such as Fedor Emelianenko, Cain Velasquez, Alistair Overeem, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mark Hunt. In 2020, he defeated Alexander Gustafsson at his last UFC fight; and was set to fight Brandon Sayles in his next Professional Fighters League contest in June 2021, before withdrawing due to medical problems.
