Claressa Shields has committed to remain with the PFL, having announced a fresh multi-year agreement on Tuesday to keep on fighting for the league. At the age of 28, Shields has already stepped into the MMA ring twice under the PFL’s promotion, holding a record of one win and one loss. Her last match with Abigail Montes in October 2021 resulted in a narrow split decision defeat.

ESPN was the initial media outlet to break this news.

Within her boxing domain, Shields has exhibited unparalleled dominance, making history as the first boxer to achieve undisputed champion status in two separate weight classes at the same time. Currently, she is the holder of the WBA, WBC, WBO, and IBF titles in both the middleweight and light middleweight categories. Shields also has to her credit championships at super middleweight and gold medals from the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games.

Expressing enthusiasm for her return to the “fighter-first organization,” Shields stated in a press release, “My objective is unaltered; I aim to be the inaugural athlete to simultaneously possess titles in both boxing and MMA. Since my MMA debut, I have evolved considerably, and I am eager to showcase my enhanced abilities.”

Although the specifics of the new contract were kept under wraps, the announcement did reveal that Shields is scheduled to compete in the PFL in 2024.

In a recent victory this past June, Shields overcame Maricela Cornejo with a unanimous decision, elevating her professional record to an unblemished 14-0 and successfully retaining her middleweight titles.

Not sure abt her MMA record, only 1-1. Maybe she should stick with boxing where shes dominant? But then again, shes young and talented, who knows where she’ll end up!
