Ciryl Gane Recounts Shocking Home Invasion During UFC Paris Triumph

Ciryl Gane’s return to the Octagon at UFC Paris was nothing short of spectacular. The former UFC interim heavyweight champion thrilled his compatriots at the Accor Arena in Paris with a second-round TKO victory over Serghei Spivac. Gane expressed his frustration, stating, “It’s not only my country; I suppose you have this everywhere in the world, but yeah, in my country, unfortunately, when you are a little bit famous now… everybody talks about that, and everybody can see how much I can win. So yeah, he did a great job because he waited [until my] fight, the last fight. He waited the night and he went out [to my] home and he did some bulls***.”

Initial reports from France estimated the value of the stolen items at over $160,000, including a Rolex watch and various items of jewelry. Police investigations revealed that the intruders had forcibly entered through the front door. As of now, no suspect has been apprehended, but authorities are actively pursuing leads.

When asked about the extent of his losses, Gane sighed and simply stated, “Too much, my man. I was not focused [on how much]. Too much.”

Despite the unfortunate incident, Gane recognizes that it could have been far worse. His wife and daughters were not at home during the break-in, preventing a potentially dangerous confrontation. Furthermore, his wife’s decision to keep the incident to herself until after his fight with Spivac ensured he remained focused on his performance. Gane emphasized the potential trauma his daughters might have experienced had they witnessed the break-in, emphasizing the importance of shielding them from such distressing situations.

“My wife saw that at first,” Gane explained. “But she kept that [to herself], and after, when we went to bed after the fight, she told me unfortunately. But she did really well because I saw nothing about [it before the fight].”

Acknowledging the ordeal’s impact on his family, Gane shared his commitment to ensuring their safety. He has taken measures to prevent a recurrence of such incidents. However, he also candidly admitted that maintaining privacy and security is becoming increasingly challenging as his fame in France continues to grow as a prominent UFC heavyweight contender.

While fame has its perks, Gane expressed a desire for a quieter, more anonymous life. He explained, “At the beginning, it’s really cool. At the really beginning, it’s so cool. But now I’m done with this, man. If I can cross [the street anonymously], that’s better, that’s way better now… Now it’s different, now I just want to be in a quiet place, calm, can chill with my family. But now it’s difficult. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to go to the school with my daughters because you have all of this s*** that can happen after, like the people [that robbed my house] during my fight at home.”
