Carla Esparza and her husband Matthew Lomeli are expecting a baby in September. Carla made the exciting announcement through Instagram and shared that they waited for 14 weeks before revealing this news. Carla is already planning to come back to competition in mid-2024 once her little ‘Cookie Monster’ arrives safely!
Esparza hasn’t been doing anything since losing her strawweight title to Zhang Weili in a fight that went for two rounds at UFC 281 last November. The loss cut off Esparza’s winning streak at six, which had led to her becoming the first ever champion of the 115-pound division when she won a split decision against Rose Namajunas at UFC 274.
We have been hiding something for the past three and a half months… we are having a baby! The baby will be coming in September 2023 and I’m really looking forward to getting back to work by sometime in 2024.
