Paulo Costa isn’t going anywhere. He announced on Wednesday that he has agreed to a new four-fight deal with the UFC. In the past, he has complained about the money he was receiving from the UFC, calling it “ridiculous” and “unfair.” So, he decided that to try to get more money from them, he’d have to say yes to something new. Now his girlfriend Tamara Alves manages him and they have come up with an amount of money that Paulo is happy enough with.
“I haven’t officially signed the contract yet, but Tamara and I have agreed to a deal with the UFC about my payment,” Costa said. “It wasn’t an easy process, but we worked hard to make it happen.”
Costa explained that he is currently in discussions with the UFC about his upcoming fight. According to him, the UFC offered for him either to face Sean Strickland in May or Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 294 which will take place in Abu Dhabi on October 21st.
“I really want to face both Adesanya and Chimaev in 2023,” Costa said. “The UFC wants this fight [with Chimaev] to definitely happen, but I’m hoping for both of them to take place. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Costa is a professional fighter with a career record of 14 wins and 2 losses, 6 of which are from the UFC. His last match was in August 2022 where he beat Luke Rockhold resulting in him shaking off his two losses that came from bouts against Marvin Vettori and Israel Adesanya.
