Augusto Sakai is no longer a part of the UFC. His deal with the MMA organization finished back in February when he won against Don’t Tale Mayes at UFC Vegas 70, but the company decided not to renew it. This was tweeted by a user called UFC Roster Watch on Thursday.
In 2018, Sakai became part of the UFC after winning a fight against Marcos Conrado Jr. on Dana White’s Contender Series. After that, he won four consecutive fights against Chase Sherman, Andrei Arlovski, Marcin Tybura and Blagoy Ivanov.
In 2020, the Bellator veteran lost to Alistair Overeem in a UFC match and it started a streak of 3 losses for him in a row against fighters Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Tai Tuivasa and Serghei Spivac. But before his last UFC fight with Mayes, he was able to stop that losing streak and improved his overall record of wins to 16 out of 21 fights. Even though he won his last fight, he is still searching for someone to sponsor him or employ him as a fighter.
