4 UFC Fighters Get Extended Medical Suspensions Following San Antonio Event, Led by Daniel Pineda

Although no one had serious health issues after the UFC San Antonio tournament last week, four fighters had to stop competing for six months because of rules from the Texas government. Everyone on the card received a break before they could fight again, with the shortest being eight days.

Four fighters – Daniel Pineda, Lucas Alexander, Steven Peterson, and CJ Vergara – recently got suspended from fighting until September 21st. We don’t know why they can’t fight yet, because the law in Texas won’t allow us to learn about what happened. However, if one of them gets permission from a doctor earlier than that date, then they might be able to fight again sooner.

Peterson had to quit after a fight he lost, so his suspension doesn’t really matter. As for the main fighters, Cory Sandhagen was suspended longer than Marlon “Chito” Vera who he won against in their five-round fight. Cory got a suspension until May 10th while Chito’s extends to April 25th.

Holly Holm and Yana Santos had a long fight that went on for three rounds in Texas. As a result of their battle, they were both given the same punishment by the authorities until April 25th.

Suspensions

Cory Sandhagen won’t be able to compete in any events until May 10, 2023. Marlon “Chito” Vera, Holly Holm, Yana Santos, Nate Landwehr, Austin Lingo and many others aren’t allowed to participate either until April 25th of this year. Maycee Barber and Andrea Lee’s suspensions go until April 23rd. Chidi Njokuani and Albert Duraev must wait until April 4th for their suspensions to end. Daniel Pineda isn’t allowed back until September 21st of 2023 and Tucker Lutz needs to wait until April 2nd before he can start competing again.

Lucas Alexander, Steven Peterson, CJ Vergara, Daniel Lacerda, Victor Altamarino and Vinicius Salvador have all been suspended from school until different dates. Lucas and Steven will be suspended until September 21st 2023, Trevin until April 4th 2023, Preston until May 25th 2023, Daniel and Victor until May 10th 2023, and finally Vinicius until April 4th2023.
